Zenless Zone Zero Coop Mode – Everything You Need To Know
Zenless Zone Zero Special Coop Mode
Releasing in version 2.5 update, a special co-op mode event called Joint Investigation The Divine Maze, which allows players to select 1 out of a selection of Agents to be used alongside 2 other players to investigate the hollow, challenging difficult enemies and obtain special rewards.
The gamemode will be divided into 3 different sections, each with their own special co-op and solo mode, where players can choose to pair with other players or play solo with their own team of Agents.
During the investigation, all 3 players will each control 1 agent and all three will act simultaneously, with buff effects, special abilities and more affecting all 3 Agents on the field at the same time. Players can choose from a set of specific Agents available to play as during this game mode and can use their own version of the Agent or the event’s special trial version of the Agent to pair with others.
Coop Battle Mechanics
Because three different Agents are able to be on the field at the same time during the event, different game mechanics will be applied to the team while on the investigation compared to when playing solo.
For once, since all 3 Agents are on field at the same time, players won’t be able to activate Assist abilities for the Agents and can only use their on field skill kit, so some of the Agents’ abilities that are tied to Assist will not be available. This also means that you will need to dodge the enemies more often. However, players will still be able to to activate the special parries or dodge that the Agent you are controlling has, allowing you to counter the bosses mechanics when necessary.
Secondly, some of the agents’ skill kits and abilities will experience major changes to allow players to experience the game better alongside 2 other players. For example, Astra Yao’s normal skill kit makes her into a passive off field support character that can’t move or attack when she enters her support mode, which will result in players not being able to do anything in co-op. To fix this, Astra Yao’s skill kit will function more like her Hollow Zero skill kit, allowing her to have more dynamic and impactful gameplay while still allowing her to support other players while she is on the field.
Thirdly, this gamemode will feature a brand new revive system for Agents, where if you fall in the battle, you will have a period of time where other players can revive you to continue the fight. To revive others, you will need to move closer to them and use the revive button, taking up some time from the fight. Additionally, if all 3 Agents fall in the battle, the fight will end in failure, so make sure to pay attention to your teammates!
Finally, since all 3 agents in the field can act independently, this means that players can activate their own Ultimate for their Agents when attacking the boss. When 3 Ultimates are activated in a short period of time or when Agents use their energy, the special Chain Meter will fill up. Once the Chain Meter is full, players can unleash the special Chain attack against the enemy, dealing massive amounts of damage to them. As this is the first ever Coop Gamemode to be introduced into the game, there are certain important things players need to know and note before playing the mode.
Firstly, this gamemode is currently under development and is only being released as a limited event for a short period of time. Participating in this event will reward players with a decent amount of character upgrading materials and currency to use in the gacha. This event will serve as a prototype of the game’s future more fleshed out coop feature, so players can look forward to it. Gameplay will also be heavily affected by server connection and ping, so make sure you have a good internet connection when playing the game.
