General Information

He specializes in dealing special Follow Up Attacks that automatically move onto another enemy whenever he successfully defeats the enemy, making him a very rare hunt character capable of dealing AoE damage to waves of enemies.

Ashveil Skill Kit
– Basic Attack: Deals Lightning DMG equal to X% of Ashveil’s ATK to one designated enemy.

– Skill: Marks one designated enemy target as “Bait,” dealing Lightning DMG equal to X% of Ashveil’s ATK, and Ashveil gains 1 Charge(s). If the target is already marked as “Bait,” additionally deals Lightning DMG equal to X% of Ashveil’s ATK to the target, as well as recovers 1 Skill Point(s). When “Bait” does not exist on the field, Ashveil immediately inflicts “Bait” on the enemy target with the lowest HP on the current field. The “Bait” state only applies to the most recently marked target. When “Bait” receives a killing blow, it marks the enemy target with the lowest HP on the current field as the new “Bait.” While “Bait” exists on the field, all enemies’ DEF is reduced by 50%.

– Ultimate: Marks one designated enemy as “Bait,” deals Lightning DMG equal to X% of Ashveil’s ATK to them, then immediately launches enhanced Talent’s Follow-Up ATK to them 1 time, and Ashveil gains 2 Charges.
This enhanced Talent’s Follow-Up ATK does not consume Charge, and for every 4 stacks of “Gluttony” possessed, consumes 4 stacks of “Gluttony” to additionally deal Lightning DMG equal to 750% of Ashveil’s ATK. During the enhanced Talent’s Follow-Up ATK, if the original “Bait” receives a killing blow, and the stack count of “Gluttony” is 4 or more, Ashveil will continue to consume “Gluttony” to deal DMG to a new “Bait.” The enhanced Talent’s Follow-Up ATK immediately ends after all enemy targets in the current field receive a killing blow.

– Talent: Ashveil starts with 3 Charge(s), up to a max of 5. After “Bait” is attacked by another ally target, Ashveil consumes 1 Charge(s) to launch a Follow-Up ATK against “Bait,” dealing Lightning DMG equal to 450% of Ashveil’s ATK, and subsequently gaining 1 stack(s) of “Gluttony,” stacking up to 12 time(s).
– Technique: After using Technique, enemies within a set area are inflicted with Daze for 10 second(s). Dazed enemies will not actively attack ally targets.
When attacking a Dazed enemy to enter combat, deals Lightning DMG to all enemies equal to 100% of Ashveil’s ATK, and Ashveil gains 1 point(s) of Charge.
– Bonus Ability 1: When Ashveil uses Skill or Ultimate, gains 1/2 stacks of “Gluttony.” During Ashveil’s Follow-Up ATK, whenever 1 enemies suffer a killing blow, Ashveil gains 1 stack(s) of “Gluttony.”
– Bonus Ability 2: When an ally target launches a Follow-Up ATK, increases the DMG dealt by this Follow-Up ATK by 80%. If the Follow-Up ATK is launched by Ashveil, additionally regenerates 3 Energy for Ashveil.

Ashveil Lightcone
The Finale of a Lie

While the wearer has “Umbra Devourer,” increases ATK by 40%and reduces all enemies’ DEF by 12%. Effects of the same kind cannot stack.
Overall Gameplay Assessment
After analysing his skill kit, Ashveil is intended to be a very powerful Follow Up Attack DPS and Support character, capable of bypassing his limitations as a Hunt unit to deal with waves of enemies thanks to his special Bait effect.
In essence, Ashveil’s gameplay is relatively simple: while Ashveil is on the field, he will have special charge points that can be expended whenever an ally attacks enemies with the Bait effect on them. When this happens, Ashveil will unleash a Follow Up attack onto the Bait enemy, dealing massive amounts of Lightning damage to the enemy and gaining special Gluttony stacks. Upon defeating the enemy with bait, Ashveil will automatically mark another enemy as bait and launch another Follow Up attack on that enemy, expending more of his charge. He will only stop attacking if he fails to defeat the bait enemy after expending 1 charge, if he runs out of charge, or if he successfully takes down 5 enemies with the bait status in a row. This makes him a very unique character in that he is not really an AoE character, yet he is still capable of dealing with waves of enemies with ease as long as he can defeat them.
Additionally, while Ashveil is on the team, he offers massive amounts of benefits to allies, providing defense reduction on all enemies, boosting the team’s critical damage and rate by a massive amount, and even straight up boosting the damage output of the team by a lot.
Initial Impression And Pull Advice
From the initial impression of his skill kit, Ashveil looks to be a very powerful main DPS character that can pioneer the resurgence of Follow Up Attacks as a damage type in the game with how amazing his skill kit is.
Currently, the main problem with the Follow Up Attack team is that they mainly consist of either powerful Hunt characters or support Erudition characters that can do Follow Up Attack, meaning they severely lack AoE damage as a whole. This problem can easily be fixed with the introduction of Ashveil as the team’s main DPS, with him being able to constantly proc his Follow Up Attacks on enemies continuously and even help to initiate Follow Up Attacks from other characters. Furthermore, Ashveil’s overall powerful debuff and buffs simply make him a very useful character to have as he offers a lot simply by existing in a team.
If players are intending to start making a Follow Up Attack team, then getting Ashveil is highly recommended. That being said, with how out of meta the Follow Up Attack team comp is right now, it is recommended that players wait a bit to see if any other future characters in Honkai Star Rail 4.0 patch and above support Ashveil’s amazing playstyle further.
