General Introduction

Enigma is a 6-Star Arcanist of the Intellect Afflatus and is a character that specializes in preventing the team from taking damage while his powerful buff is active while also providing Dynamo stacks to fuel the team’s Electric Array, making him a powerful sustain and support character for the Dynamo Archetype team and any team that are in need of a sustain character.

Incantation Skill And Ultimate Analysis

To understand how Enigma works and how to best build him into a powerful Arcanist, we need to know how his Skill and Ultimate works:

Infinite Translation
(Incantation Skill)
RankEffects

21-target attack. Deals 200% Reality DMG. All allies gain 4 stacks of [Ciphertext]. Gain 10 stacks of [Dynamo].
31-target attack. Deals 200% Reality DMG. All allies gain 5 stacks of [Ciphertext]. Gain 10 stacks of [Dynamo].
Importance: High
Analysis: Enigma’s main damage skill and one of his ways to grants the team additional Dynamo and Ciphertext stacks that can be used to funnel additional Dynamo into the Electric Array.
Meshing Minds
(Incantation Skill)
RankEffects
1Self buff. Gain [Bastion] equal to (ATK x 280/420/700%). If [Bastion] is already present, this stacks onto the existing one (the combined [Bastion] value will not exceed the user’s ATK x 1250%). Gain 10 stacks of [Dynamo].
2Self buff. Gain [Bastion] equal to (ATK x 420%). If [Bastion] is already present, this stacks onto the existing one (the combined [Bastion] value will not exceed the user’s ATK x 1250%). Gain 10 stacks of [Dynamo].
3Self buff. Gain [Bastion] equal to (ATK x 700%). If [Bastion] is already present, this stacks onto the existing one (the combined [Bastion] value will not exceed the user’s ATK x 1250%). Gain 10 stacks of [Dynamo].
Importance: Highest
Analysis: Enigma’s main gimmick and sustain skill, allowing him to grant the entire team additional dynamo stack and Bastion effect that can completely cancel the enemies’ attacks based on the amount of Bastion he has.
The Riddle and the Answer
(Ultimate)
Effects
Self-buff. Gain [Cipher Machine], lasting 2 rounds, dispel all allies’ [Stats Down], [Neg Status], and [Control] effects, and grant self 5 stacks of [Loop Chain].
Importance: High
Analysis: Enigma’s Ultimate that helps him set up his channel buff to funnel even more Dynamo into the Electric Array and grants the entire team powerful damage buffs in addition to removing all of their debuffs.

Inheritance Analysis

Additionally to his skills and abilities, his inheritance level will also affect Enigma’ performance in a team:

RankEffectsAnalysis
1Gain [Amplified Surge]. At the start of the round, if not under a [Pulsing Field] of any level, deploy [Pulsing Field Lv.1].
Upon entering combat, all allies gain 10 stacks of [Ciphertext], self gains 10 stacks of [Dynamo] and [Bastion] equal to (ATK x 280%).
While [Bastion] exists, all allies are immune to [Control] 4 times per round.
At the end of round, funnel at most 10 stacks of [Dynamo] into [Pulsing Field].
Ultimate does not count towards the Spelldock limit.

Insight I

Every time an ally actively acts, gets attacked or at the end of round, gain 1 stack of [Loop Chain]. If there are 1/2/3 [Dynamo] characters, increase the max stacks of [Ciphertext] on all allies by 1/2/5.
This inheritance allows him to not only enable the Electric Array for Dynamo play but also allow him to set up his Cipher Text and Bastion effects, allowing him to funnel more Dynamo stacks proportional to the Ciphertext stacks and prevent the team from taking damage the more Bastion stacks he has.
2Upon entering combat, increase ATK by 5%.This inheritance helps boost Enigma’s Attack
3Upon entering combat, gain +3 Moxie. All allies further increase max [Dynamo] by +20 stacks. At the start of the round, if self has [Bastion], increase DMG Taken Reduction for all allies by +30% for 2 rounds. This inheritance allows Enigma to make all Dynamo allies gain an additional Dynamo stack limit and helps reduce the damage they take overall

Enigma Playstyle And Combat Role Analysis

Enigma is a 6-Star Arcanist of the Intellect Afflatus and is used mainly as a Dynamo Support and Sustain character that can essentially carry the entire team on his back thanks to his amazingly powerful and well-rounded skill kit.

Enigma’s skill kit and gimmick revolves around his Ciphertext stacks and Bastion effects, each with their own unique effects. Ciphertext is a special stack effect that functions essentially as extra Dynamo stacks for characters on the field. Whenever Dynamo is funneled into the Pulsing Field, each character can consume an additional amount of Ciphertext stacks on them to allow the Pulsing Field to gain additional Dynamo stacks. This, coupled with Enigma’s amazing ability to increase the maximum stacks of Dynamo on all characters and his powerful effect to constantly generates Dynamo stacks for the team makes him essentially a Dynamo generation machine, cutting down the time players need to funnel Dynamo stacks into the Pulsing Field in half and help keeps the field constantly active, providing the most powerful beneficial effects for the entire team with maxed out Pulsing Field level.

Enigma’s other powerful effect is his Bastion effect, which functions similarly to a shield but can’t be stacked with other shield sources. While Enigma has Bastion on himself, all allies won’t take any damage from the enemies’ attacks and will be able to resist enemies’ control effects 4 times every turn. Additionally, if the enemies deal AoE damage to the team, the more allies they hit, the less Bastion they will reduce, in turns, rendering a lot of enemies’ damage useless against the team if the enemies can’t get rid of Enigma Bastion. This coupled with his amazing damage reduction effect while having Bastion makers Enigma an almost indestructible shield against any enemy attacks, allowing the entire team ample time to set up and deal powerful damage to enemies.

Finally, Enigma’s Ultimate allows him to enter a special field and grants the entire team powerful buff effects and removes the entire team’s debuffs. Once he gains enough Ultimate stacks, Enigma will also unleash a powerful attack against all enemies.

Best Psychubes And Resonance Build

Best Psychubes

As a Support Sustain character for the Dynamo Archetype, Enigma wants Psychubes that can help boost his support effects further for the team.

The best Psychube for Enigma is:

The Riddle’s Limit
EffectAt the end of the round, if the user has [Bastion], DMG Taken decreased by -4% for 1 round.
At the end of the round, if the user has funneled [Dynamo] into [Pulsing Field] at least once, increase DMG Dealt for all allies by +2% (up to 3 stacks).
AnalysisEnigma’s signature Psychube that allows him to reduce the damage he takes from enemies and help him to boost the entire team’s damage output when under the Pulsing Field.

Resonance Build

For Enigma,as he mainly serves as support sustain character for the Dynamo team and various other teams, wants build that focuses on boosting his attack to strengthen his Bastion buff in addition to some additional Survability stats.

Reverse:1999 Enigma Resonance Build

Build Code: APwlNAU0VTxhPAE4IjokKhJBQkhUQFBBACsgRCE

Players should use the Hyper piece as his main Resonance piece for extra attack stats.

Rolling Recommendation

Should You Roll For Enigma

Yes, absolutely. Enigma is an amazingly essential character for the Dynamo archetype team, whose main problem was that they can deal powerful damage but require too much time to set up and can’t survive for long due to their lack of sustain. With Enigma, both of these issues are completely rendered invalid, making Dynamo into one of the most powerful enabling engines in the entire game, regardless if players have a dedicated Dynamo DPS or not. With Enigma and Charon in the same team, players can turn any DPS and any team into a powerful Dynamo team that can benefit greatly from the buffs provided by the Pulsing Field.

Additionally, due to how universally powerful Enigma’s sustain and support buffs are, he can be used in almost any team that requires a hard sustain character, making him a very valuable character to have when building any team, to the point of rivaling Marsha’s ability to sustain teams easily.

Should You Roll For Extra Enigma Portraits

Not necessary, but his Portrait Levels Are Good To Have. Enigma’s skill kit by itself is already very powerful at P0 and the majority of his Portrait only further boost his support and sustain effects with additional stats and lengthen his buffs’ duration. Therefore, players want to invest in him, players can consider getting his P1 as it is his main Portrait break point as it helps to increase the team’s Dynamo stack limit even further.

For the other Portraits, Enigma’s portrait 3 to 5 essentially increase in damage for him and only slightly boost his support effects, while the other only slightly boost his overall buff numbers, so players should not consider getting him to higher portrait unless you want to commit fully.

Conclusion

One of the game’s most powerful support and sustain characters that can enable any DPS character thanks to his incredible skill kit, Enigma makes his debut in Reverse: 1999 Version 3.6 Update Patch. If players want to try out this brand new support character, then don’t hesitate to roll on Enigma’s banner with the help of Enjoygm – the best Reverse: 1999 Top Up site on the web!
