Arknights Elemental Damage Guide – Everything You Need To Know
What Are Elemental Damage
Introduced first as a gimmick that many different enemies used to deal extra damage to Operators on the field, Elemental Damage are special damage types in Arknights that function differently depending on the type of Elemental Damage.
Elemental Damage in the game is signified by a wheel below the character’s sprite. Upon taking elemental damage, the wheel will slowly fill up with the white bar and once the white bar is filled, the character or enemy will be inflicted with special statuses depending on which type of elemental damage they took. Once this effect triggers, the enemy or character can’t be inflicted with Elemental Damage for the next 10s.
Elemental Damage completely ignores both Defense and Resistances and scales off the user’s Attack stat or HP stat depending on the archetype. The more Attack or HP the user has, the faster the Elemental bar will fill up and the faster the effect of each type of Elemental Damage will proc. Different enemies have different amounts of Elemental Gauge that you need to build up, with some enemies even having Elemental Resistances to further reduce the Elemental Gauge fill up time.
There are currently 4 types of Elemental Damage in the game, however, we will only go over 3 of them as only 3 Elemental Damage types can be used by the players right now. These Elemental Damage being Necrosis, Burn and Nervous Impairment.
Necrosis
Necrosis is an Elemental Damage type in Arknights that primarily focuses on reducing both the enemies’ offenses and defenses when the Necrosis Burst effect occurs.

Upon filling the Elemental Gauge with Necrosis damage, the Necrosis Burst effect will trigger and last for 15 seconds. When this happens, the enemy will be inflicted with the Enfeeble debuff throughout the Burst duration, cutting their Attack stat in half and making them take Elemental Damage constantly during the Burst duration.
Necrosis is considered the most damaging Elemental Damage type due to its high damage output and long Burst duration, making it a very strong Elemental Damage type to use against boss and elite enemies.
Burn
Burn is an Elemental Damage type in Arknights that focuses on filling the Gauge to deal a massive instance of Elemental Damage on the enemies and reduce their resistances.

Upon filling the Elemental Gauge with Burn damage, the Burn Burst effect will trigger and last for 10 seconds. At the Burn Burst effect trigger, the enemies will take a massive 7000 Elemental Damage up front and have their resistance reduced. This effect can only be triggered after the 10 second Burst Cooldown duration has ended.
Compared to Necrosis Damage, Burn Damage is more damage per instance rather than consistent damage, with Burn Damage being able to be triggered much faster thanks to its lower cooldown duration of 10 seconds compared to Necrosis Damage 15 seconds and dealing more damage instantly than Necrosis Damage. This Elemental Damage type is suitable for dealing with enemies with low HP and can be taken out by large single instances of damage. Burn can also help with Arts damage team due to its Resistance Reduction effect.
Nervous Impairment
Nervous Impairment is the latest Elemental Damage type that players can use in Arknights. Its primary focus is the special Paralysis Effect it inflicts on enemies upon triggering the Burst effect.

Upon filling the elemental gauge with Nervous Impairment Damage, the Nervous Impairment Burst Effect will be triggered, lasting for 10 seconds. Under Nervous Impairment Burst, the enemies will take 6000 elemental damage instantly and be inflicted with the paralysis debuff. This effect can only be triggered again after 10 seconds have passed.
The paralysis debuff is one of the best debuffs in the game, with its effect preventing the enemy from doing 3 instances of normal attacks. It does not have a duration, meaning as long as the enemies have yet to do 3 normal attack instances, they won’t be able to normal attack at all while under Paralysis.
Compared to Burn and Necrosis, Nervous Impairment is the middle of the two, with less damage overall when compared to the two effects but make up for it by providing an extremely powerful utility debuff that can render enemies useless on the battlefield, making it a very worthwhile Elemental Damage type to be used to control the battlefield.

Necrosis Team
For Necrosis Damage, the primary focus of the team revolves around 3 main Operators: Virtuosa, Nymph and Logos.

Virtuosa is a 6-star Supporter Class Operator of the Ritualist Archetype, the archetype made for enabling Necrosis damage. Her skill kit allows her to fill the Elemental Gauge of multiple enemies in her range at once and is able to trigger the Necrosis Burst effect very quickly thanks to her talent. She is the primary enabler for Necrosis Damage and is an important part of the Necrosis Damage team.
Nymph is a 6-star Caster Class Operator of the Primal Caster archetype, an archetype that deals more damage to enemies when they are under Elemental Burst Effects. Nymph serves as the Necrosis Damage main DPS character with her ability to punish enemies under Necrosis Burst effects by bombarding them with powerful Arts and Elemental Damage Attacks.
Logos is the special case in the Necrosis team, as he serves as both a strong Enabler and a powerful Necrosis DPS. Logos is a 6-star Caster Operator in the Core Caster archetype, whose skill kit and module allow him to inflict Necrosis damage to enemies. Thanks to his powerful skill kit and his module, Logos can both inflict high amount of Necrosis Elemental Damage to fill the Elemental Gauge quickly as well as dealing additional Elemental Damage to enemies under the Necrosis Burst effect, making him a very powerful jack of all trades for the Necrosis team.
Other notable operators for the Necrosis Team include: Ebenholz, Diamante, PhonoR-0, Valarqvin and Philae.
Burn Team
The burn team’s entire team building revolves mainly around 1 single Operator: Yu.

Yu is a 6-star Defender Operator of the Primal Protector archetype, an archetype that only he has that allows him to inflict Elemental Damage to enemies. Yu serves as the Burn Damage team’s main enabler through the use of his skill 3, which sets up a Fire barrier in front of Yu. Every Arts damage attack that passes through the Fire barrier will deal additional Burn Elemental Damage to the enemies equal to a portion of Yu’s Attack stat. This skill makes it so that essentially any Arts damage dealer can become a Burn Elemental Damage DPS.
This amazing skill makes it so that the best partners to go with Yu as the Burn team main Elemental DPS options are the 2 6-star Operators Goldenglow and Lappland the Decadenza (or Lappland Alter). These two operators shares the ability to attack any enemies on the map and deal Arts damage to them as they are of the Mech-Accord Caster archetypes, allowing players to inflict Burn Elemental Damage to all enemies on the map and deal massive amount of Burn Elemental Burst effects on enemies. This team comp is usually preferred to as the Global Warming Squad.
Aside from this best team comp for Burn Damage, some of the notable Operators that interact with Burn Elemental Damage are: Ifrit, Vivian, Blaze the Igniting Spark, Warmy and Bobbing. Though players do need to note that any Arts Damage dealer whose damage range can pass through the Fire Barrier can make full use of Yu’s Burn Elemental Damage as well.
Nervous Impairment Team
Lastly, the Nervous Impairment team revolves mainly around 2 Operators: Tragodia and Mantra.

As the newest Elemental Damage addition to the game that players can actually use against enemies, the main enabler for Nervous Impairment Elemental Damage Team is Tragodia. Tragodia is a 6-star Supporter Operator of the same archetype as Virtuosa, both being Ritualist. This makes Tragodia’s skill kit an amazing tool to inflict large amounts of Nervous Impairment on enemies to fill up the Elemental Damage gauge as quickly as possible.
Unlike Virtuosa and Necrosis, however, Tragodia’s skill kit is more single target focused, with him only being able to inflict Nervous Impairment to one single enemy and their surrounding titles at a time. However, Tragodia makes up for this by having one of the game’s most powerful crowd control skill kit, capable of rendering elites and boss enemies unable to attack thanks to the Nervous Impairment Paralysis effect.
For the main DPS option for the Nervous Impairment team, Mantra fits this role perfectly well. Mantra is a 6-star Operator of the Caster Class and is also in the Primal Caster Archetype. She deals massive amounts of Arts and Elemental Damage to enemies that are inflicted with Paralysis or is under the Nervous Impairment Burst effect, allowing her to dish out large amounts of damage to large groups of enemies, covering for Tragodia’s lack of AoE option.
Aside from these two, the notable operators that have interactions with Nervous Impairment include: Thorns, Miss.Christine and Gracebearer.
