As the Contingency Contracts Event and gamemode is a choose your own challenge type of event, meaning that players will need to choose different types of Risk on their own in order to increase the difficulty of the challenge in order to obtain special rewards and get to higher Risks to prove themselves, different characters are used when different risks are selected, with many of the characters being able to excel at the challenge when certain risks are chosen and does not when the risk changes. 

Therefore, we will divide this list into different sections related to the different general Risks that players will choose in the game and advise players on the best characters for each of these types of Risk, allowing players to have a better understanding of what character they should build up in order to challenge the different types of risk:

General Best Characters To Build

This section pertains to the characters that players should build when challenging the 1.3 Contingency Contracts in general in order to be able to tackle many different Risks at once as they are general useful in any Risk combinations:

The characters in this section includes:

– Estella: The MVP of this contingency contracts and generally considered the best character to be used to cheese this event, Estella is a 4-Star Cryo Character of the Guard Class. Players should build her up due to her being able to trivialize a majority of the most annoying Risks in these Contingency Contracts: Solidification Risks, Unable To Switch and Dodge Risks, Reduced Damage Risks and more. This is due to her amazing talent to completely ignore the Solidification effect and reduces the enemies’ Cryo damage against the team by 20%, allowing players to choose the more difficult Solidification Risks in the event without needing to worry about being frozen at all, making it possible to easily clear higher risks with her being the controlled Operator.

– Wulfgard: Wulfgard is a 5-Star Heat character that wields dual pistols as his main weapon type and specializes in dealing Heat damage to enemies from afar and inflicting them with constant heat Infliction. The reason why he is generally a very good character to build is that Wulfgard is a very cheap DPS character that can constantly trigger the Combustion effect on enemies easily with his natural Rotation, allowing players to constantly deal big bursts of damage to enemies at low SP cost. This makes it so that he can be used in high risk clears when the team is under SP restrictive Risks and when enemies take less damage from all sources aside from Arts Burst effects.

– Tangtang: Serving somewhat of a similar role to Wulfgard, Tangtang is a Sub DPS Support character that players should also build for this Contingency Contracts. Her ability to constantly inflict Arts infliction and Arts susceptibility on enemies and crowd controlling them makes her a very good character to bring to a high risk clear as long as players do not choose the Crowd Control Healing Risk on the enemies. Additionally, her timestop ability can make it easier for players to run away from danger and have more time to breathe between enemy attacks.

– Chen: Chen is one of the most used characters for this Contingency Contract solely for the fact that not only can she deal decently high raw damage to enemies, she can inflict multiple Vulnerability stacks onto the enemies multiple times through her various abilities, making her a core character to build if players intend on using a Physical team in for this CC.

SP Restriction Risk

This section pertains to characters that can help to reduce the threat of the various SP Restriction Risks with their ability to recover quick and easy SP for the team.

The best characters to build in this section are:

– Camille: Camille is the single best piece of SP generation that has been released, with his rotation and ability to generate SP being extremely powerful and easy to use. Using his normal rotation, Camille can recover upwards of 120 SP and apply both Heat Infliction and Weaken onto enemies, allowing him to not only render the SP restriction Risk null but also help to reduce the damage enemies deal to the team. 

– Pogranichnik: Pogranichnik is a good SP recovery consideration to counteract the SP Risk if players know how to use his rotation properly. Additionally, he needs to be used in a Physical centric team in order to make full use of his SP recovery effects, however, when done properly, he can recover a lot of SP for the entire team.

Dodge Restriction Risk

This section pertains to characters that can help mitigate the Risk that prevents players from using dodge, a crucial gameplay mechanic and the lifeline of many players. Especially if it is paired with the no switching controlled operator Risk.

The characters in this section includes:

– Ember: Ember serves as essentially a really really strong tank and damage sponge to combat against the No dodge Risk as she has extremely high HP and defense and can take almost every hit from enemies without easily dying, allowing players to control her as the on-field operator to take hits from enemies.

– Catcher: In a similar vein to Ember, Catcher is a budget tanking option that players can consider building if they want to combat the no dodging Risk as he can provide an instant shield that can prevent enemies’ attacks, a shield and healing for the active operator or any operators at low health and has decently high HP and defenses to tank enemies’ oncoming attacks.

All Damage Source Reduction Risk

This section pertains to characters that can bypass the Damage source reduction risk, which reduces the damage of operators by 100% if the damage were dealt by using a Normal Attack, Battle Skill, Combo Skill or Ultimate. To combat this risk, players need to use characters that can trigger Arts Burst against enemies, as these instances of damage are not considered a skill damage and also gain a 100% damage up buff from this risk.

The characters best used for this are:

– Mi Fu: Mi Fu is a character whose entire gameplan revolves around consuming Vulnerability Stacks on enemies in order to apply Crush to them to deal massive amounts of damage at once, making her the character that benefits from this Risk the most. However, due to how she needs to consume as much Vulnerability stacks as possible to deal more damage to enemies and due to how slow her rotation can be, Mi Fu should only be used in low to medium risk clears as she struggles more in higher risk runs.

– Endmin: In a similar vein to Mi Fu, Endmin’s skill kit allows them to attach Originium to the enemies to detonate them and deal damage proportional to Vulnerability stacks on the enemies, allowing them to benefit from this risk. However, unlike Mi Fu, Endmin is slightly more versatile with their ability to self supply their own damage source and their higher mobility.

– Perlica: Perlica has the ability to not only apply Electric Infliction onto the enemies but also forcefully apply the Electrification onto enemies with almost 0 cost, making her a very powerful potential DPS character for players to play around the Damage Reduction Risk.

Now that we have gone over the best characters players should consider building for the 1.3 Contingency Contracts, here are some of the teams players can consider using her different tier of Risk Clears in the event.

Please note that the teams compositions can change wildly based on different player’s own playstyles and the different character builds, so it is very recommended that players be creative with the team comps they use to tackle the different Risk in this event. These teams are only shown as examples and should not be taken as rigid teams that players need to copy in order to clear the challenge.

Low To Medium Risk Clear Teams

These teams are teams that can generally be used comfortably to clear around Risk 10 to 30 in the event, with various Risk mismatches to fit the team you play and changing the Risk to fit the players’ own playstyles.

– Mi Fu Crush Team:

This team takes advantage of Mi Fu powerful Crush damage in order to quickly take out enemies once they are inflicted with 3 Vulnerability stacks. Players should consider not taking the Vulnerability Stack Application Restriction Risk in order to maximize their team’s damage capabilities. If players are taking the no dodge Risk, please note to replace the on-field character with either Ember or Catcher for an easier time.

– Laevetain Heat Team:

This team focuses on enabling Laevetain with as many Heat Infliction stacks as possible in order to allow her to trigger Combustion damage to enemies constantly, dealing powerful damage to them. 

High Risk Clear Teams

These teams are generally used to allow players to clear Risk from 30 to 50 and above, with the majority of these teams requiring a lot of skill and game knowledge in order to successfully clear the challenge. 

It is important to note that at these risk levels, players’ skill, positioning and game knowledge is more important than team comps, so players should experiment with what they want to use instead of trying to copy any particular team.

Additionally, a core character that can help reduce the difficulty of higher risk clear by a decent amount is Estella, with her ability to ignore Solification, allowing players to select all of the Solidification Risks with no consequences, bumping up the number of Risks significantly.
